Publishers’ Graphics (PG) was founded in 1996 by Kathleen and Nick Lewis in Naperville, Illinois. From its modest beginnings as a short run digital printer, the company has grown to become one of the nation’s largest book and journal manufacturers. Today, the company employs over 100 employees working in three manufacturing facilities throughout the Midwest.

Launch of “The Book of One”

The Lewis’ initially established the company as a short run digital printer, catering to small and medium publishers. It quickly became evident that the publishing market was demanding even smaller print runs, and in 2009, “The Book of One” was launched. This innovation enabled single copy books to be economically manufactured and helped fuel PG’s growth in the print-on-demand arena.

In-Plant facility opens in Florence, KY

In November of 2009, Publishers’ Graphics opened its second printing facility in Florence, Kentucky, serving as the In-Plant manufacturing arm for a large international publisher. A period of rapid growth followed and key technological investments were made including web-to-print workflows, a virtual bookstore, and online print quoting.

PG Purchases Corley Printing

In the summer of 2013, PG purchased Corley Printing, an 80 year old St. Louis-based book printing company. With this acquisition the company gained a foothold in the offset book market, printing titles for associations, automotive companies, and educational and religious publishers.

PG Acquires Commercial Letter

Further diversifying its portfolio in 2014, PG acquired Commercial Letter, a direct marketing company also based in St. Louis. Warehousing and distribution, direct mailing, list services and data management have since been added to the PG wheelhouse.

PG Introduces PG Direct

Over a year in the making, PG introduces a new book selling platform:  PG Direct. This e-commerce website eliminates multiple steps in the book printing and selling process, making it easier to order, print and distribute books for publishers and authors.  As the first US printer to offer this bold, dynamic sales model to its publishers, PG’s comprehensive book catalog – nearly a quarter million titles strong―is available for purchase on the site.

Innovation continues to be the hallmark of the company. The PG mission, established in 1996, remains largely unchanged: “To provide customized services to the publishing industry by utilizing the latest digital imaging and printing equipment for the manufacture and distribution of short run books.”

Today PG caters to a large base of customers ranging from self- publishers to global publishers.
